Two-sided celluloid baby rattle

More of a baby toy than a doll, this 11½ cm baby rattle is made out of celluloid and has beads inside it to make it rattle.  Considering how fragile celluloid is, it's a wonder that it has survived in such good condition.  Perhaps it was never used.  One side of the rattle shows a crying face, the other side shows a happy face.  It appears to be an early piece and although unmarked, if I had to guess I would say that it was German in origin.
