This old German doll is
mainly made of felt with kid leather feet. He has shoe button eyes.
He is very worn and his stuffing is showing so we can see he has been stuffed
with excelsior. Typical of Steiff dolls he has a seam down the centre of
his face. His hair is mohair fabric, the same fabric that Steiff would
have used to make their teddy bears. He has his original Steiff button in
one ear and the style of the button dates him to between 1908 and 1911.
Steiff made circus dolls around that time and he appears as if he could have
been a circus acrobat. He measures 43 cm in height.
