Kestner 201
This celluloid shoulder plate doll measures 62 cm in height. She's marked JDK 201 7 and was made by the firm of J D Kestner who also made bisque headed dolls. She has blue glass sleeping eyes with hair lashes and open mouth with teeth. The painting of her lips is typical of Kestner with the slightly upturned corners of the upper lip. Her eyebrows are moulded and painted and she has her original mohair wig. Like a lot of the Kestner celluloid shoulder head dolls, her body is made of kid with bisque lower arms. Her arms are gussetted at the elbows so they can bend and she has jointing at the upper legs and knees for sitting. Her shoes are possibly original as they are marked with the size number 7, the same size number on the back of her head.
