English bisque doll

This doll is 49 cm tall.  Her bisque shoulderhead is marked DP Co England which is the mark of the Doll Pottery Co.  Her body is made out of imitation kid and lower limbs are of composition.  The quality of bisque on English dolls usually wasn't as good as on the German and French dolls and the painting tends to wear off, as has happened with this doll.  However it gives her a great antique look.  She has beautiful blue glass eyes.  Her wig is mohair and is now quite sparse.  She retains her original clothing.  She must have been a well played-with and loved doll.
