David Choe wooden dolls

While these aren't antique dolls I'm including them on the website as they make interesting additions to the multi-faced dolls section.  The first wooden doll shown here called Choegal was designed by American artist David Choe and issued in 2008 as a limited edition of 1,000.  As I collect multi-faced dolls I had to add one to my collection!  I think it will be a great collectible for the future.

She measures 20 cm tall.  Her arms are ball-jointed at shoulders, elbows and wrists.  The three faces are rotated by turning the knob on top of the hood.  The striped face is obviously a crying face though I'm not entirely sure what the other two expressions are meant to be!  The picture to the right shows the doll in her original box.  Since purchasing this doll, more David Choe dolls have been manufactured, and of course I had to get them too!  They are featured further down the page.

This Choegal figure is called Wombat.  It's the same design as the earlier Choegal doll with the three faces and is the same size too (20 cm).  The hand painted faces are "sleeping girl", "pixelated" and "alien arachnid".  She's part of a limited edition of only 200 and was made in 2009.

This model is even stranger than the others!  It's called Siamese Twin and it's obvious why!  It was issued in 2009 as a limited edition of 500.  Each doll has the same three faces (with slight variation as they are hand painted).  One of their faces seems to be normal, another face is is covered by a balaclava and the third face looks a bit like a monster!  She (they?!) also measures 20 cm tall.

The latest doll to be released (late 2009) is called Cupcake and was put out as a limited edition of 200.  Like the others in the series it is 20 cm tall.  The head hood area has been painted as if it's a cupcake with the turning knob being the cherry on top!  Two of the faces tie in with the cupcake theme as the striped one is a cupcake paper cup and the brown one is a chocolate cupcake.  However the third face is that of a robot!
