This doll dates from around 1905. She is 34 cm tall. Her bisque head
has three different faces - sleeping, smiling and crying, the smiling and crying
faces having fixed glass eyes. The head is encased in a papier-mache hood
with a metal ring at the top of the hood that turns the head around to display
the different faces. She is marked CB in a circle, which stands for Carl
Bergner of Germany who specialised in multi-face dolls. Her body is cloth
with jointed composition arms and legs. She wears a lovely long antique
baby gown which is probably original.
