Bru

This doll is quite big for a Bru at 63 cm tall.  She is quite an unusual example in that her body is composition and kid, a type often used in the Bru mechanical dolls.  She has an open mouth - usually open mouth Bru dolls are marked Bru Jne R but she is only marked Bru Jne.  It is thought that she is a transitional doll made around 1890.  She wears a beautiful old costume and has a lovely long mohair wig.  Eyes are fixed and ears are pierced.

Her body is pictured below.  Chest and upper legs are composition covered in kid, arms are made of stuffed kid.

Markings on the back of the head are pictured below.  At the bottom of the picture you can faintly see the kid is ink stamped BEBE BRU.
