Betsy McCall

This cute little doll measuring 20 cm tall is called Betsy McCall.  She was made by the American Character company in the USA.  She is marked on her back with the circular mark pictured below.

She is one of the earlier 20 cm Betsy McCalls made in 1957 as she has a mesh base wig, later dolls having rooted hair.

These dolls came with a chemise of the type that she's wearing, although usually it has pink dots of it.  I did find a Betsy McCall website that said that some of these dolls did have a different type of lacy material on their original chemise so it may be one of those.  It doesn't appear home-made.

Her shoes appear original but her socks  probably are not as they seem too thick.
